Hi Tom,

What is the state of outputs if 5V is off on Kflop/Kanalog?
Kanalog JP8 and JP11
Cheers Bengt

Hi,
This has happened, the 5V PSU went dead and at the same time I had the unforutnate visit from MrMurphy and Y-Axis servoamp did have a burn in the 100V powerstage. I cannot see any obvious fault in the PSU so I am replacling it with a bigger one. Will try to repair the Y-axis servo but it will take some time as I have no schematics at hand and the only place that still service and build these amp's is not willing to give me a copy :(
Cheers Bengt

Hi Bengt,

The optos and relay drivers will be off without any +5V power.  The +5V is the only power going to the board.  It is used to create all the other supply voltages (1.8V, 2.5V, 3.3V, +15V, -15V).

If you want to be very safe you should use the SWE (Relay Switch Enable), which is derived from a charge pump that will only turn on if everything is powered up and KFlop is up and running and communicating with Kanalog.
